Le Cirque quilt completed!

This quilt is 84"x 96" and there is a narrow orange binding.  The photo is poor quality because it was dark in the room, my sons were holding it up to the ceiling on wobbly footstools, and I snapped it quickly to give them some relief.  I will try to take a better photo at another time, and maybe a few close-ups of areas that are hard to see.

  5. Whoops! Of course I meant "husband". I'm one of those rare people who have never seen a Cirque show. This makes me want to see it even more.

  6. You will love the Cirque shows, my favorite was "O" They are amazingly beautiful. And I love the characters, obviously.

  7. My first thought was "beautiful!" and then I saw it crammed under your DSM & thought "ugh -- to quilt it -- it's huge!" You are a braver woman than I.

  8. Virginia, it was definitely a challenge. I ripped out a lot of threads after finding pleats on the back, sometimes had to turn it over to quilt it on the back instead of the front for tricky areas. My whole body was sore for a few days. But, now we have our quilt. I might do a couple more large ones but I will wait awhile before I tackle any that large again! Would you believe 1600+ yrds of thread?

  9. JJ,
Absolutely gorgeous! I love how you've used the circles throughout also. And by using the batiks and hand-dyes, it almost looks like one of the pictures in your sketchbook!
    Amazing work, as always.
