Anniversary Quilt progress...

Ok my squares are sewn together and now I am adding bits and pieces to unify the quilt.  It only took 42 squares, not 81!!!  Each block is 12".

  1. JJ, I love this!!. For your background batiks, did you use random designs or limit to three or four?
Machine quilting will certainly give you more bang for your time. :)

  2. Sam i started out with three different batiks but then added a fat quarter here and there as needed. I arranged it in terms of dark and light and there are some odd one piece batiks in there.

I am thinking machine is the way to go also, but what a job!

    Thank you for you comment!

  3. JJ, great quilt! I'd definitely recommend free-motion machine quilting. Pin baste with safety pins and stitch on the seam lines to stabilize each block, then you can move about to any block, changing thread colors if needed. Your echo quilting seems ideal for this quilt.
